Boston Celtics

Next up: Atlanta

Hard to believe, but if anyone might derail this 15-game winning streak the Celtics are on, it could be the Hawks Wednesday night in Atlanta.

“We have to come in with our ‘A’ game or we won’t be walking out of there with a win,” said Celtics captain Paul Pierce.

During last season’s playoffs, the Hawks took the Celtics to seven games in the first round, winning all three contests in Atlanta. Leon Powe was in his first playoffs then, but he remembers it well.

“It was very fun, entertaining,” said Powe. “We went out there, and even though we didn’t win, we learned a lot. They’re going to play hard every possession, every play. To beat them out there you have to focus in every possession.”

What makes the Hawks, who were the eighth-seeded team in last year’s playoffs, so tough?

“I think it’s the crowd,” said Powe. “I think they all feed off the crowd. When they got their crowd going, waving towels and doing all kinds of crazy stuff, they start hitting all kinds of shots. I think it has a lot to do with the crowd.”
