Boston Celtics

Welcome to the Garden …

Welcome to the Garden, where the Boston Celtics will take on the Detroit Pistons at 8:30 p.m. in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics lead the series, 1-0.

Maybe it was the afternoon Red Sox game, but there are already plenty of fans milling about outside the Garden. Getting in the Garden is a different story. A balcony seat will cost you $125 ($120 if you ask the scalper nicely). And we’re talking four rows from the back wall.

Once you get in, however, it’s pretty nice in here. The league has commissioned an “Eastern Conference Finals” ice sculpture, engraved with the Celtics and Pistons logos. It’s sitting outside the media work room.

Might we see a different Ray Allen tonight? We could, if you believe a change in his pregame routine will be a sign of changes in his game. Allen came out for his shooting a little later than usual. And while he’s usually alone when he shoots, he was joined today by Sam Cassell. Allen is a creature of habit, so it’s a bit surprising that he’s changing it up. Let’s see if it pays off for him tonight.

We’re just warming up here at the Garden. Keep it here for updates all night.
