‘He’s nuts’
We can all relate a little bit to Kevin Garnett.
Everyone knows someone who tries so hard that he takes every setback as if the world has ended. Someone who beats himself up over the smallest failures.
So when Garnett was held to 15 points in a loss to the Cavs in Game 4, Doc Rivers didn’t have to say a thing.
“He is nuts, and that is a good thing,” said Rivers. “I mean he cares so much, sometimes maybe too much, if that is possible. I didn’t need to talk to him before the game. I trusted he would do enough talking to himself, and he would be fine. And he was fine.”
Garnett had 26 points and 16 rebounds for the Celtics tonight, overcoming the mystery that had been Anderson Varejao on defense. Teammate Paul Pierce said he wasn’t worried about KG.
“You know he is going to bounce back in some kind of way,” said Pierce. “I just think Kevin is so hard on himself, that he pushes himself to the limit to where he is going to bounce back, and that is what he did tonight….I think he takes these losses just as hard or even harder than pretty much everybody in the locker room and you see it on his face and you can feel it when you are around him. You knew he was going to come out with that spirit from the jump.”
