Boston Celtics

Cavaliers, 46-43 (halftime)

Could the Celtics’ season be saved by a pair of threes from…Rajon Rondo?

At one point in the second quarter, the mood in this building was so down that a fan in section 21 started chanting “Let’s go, Red Sox” as the Cavaliers were widening their lead to double-digits. With the Celtics winless on the road this postseason, it’s safe to say that fans here are treating tonight’s game as a must-win.

The Celtics have not played well, but back-to-back threes by Rondo closed the deficit to 43-37 with 1:33 remaining in the half. A bucket by Paul Pierce has the C’s in a one-possession game. Still, the Celtics are shooting 41 percent and have turned the ball over seven times.

LeBron James is dominating this game. He has 23 points already. Maybe he’s drawing inspiration from Jay-Z, who is sitting next to the Cleveland bench.

It’s rare for the Celtics to trail at home at halftime, but at least they’re in the game. That’s something that couldn’t be said five minutes ago.
