Seen while waiting for the locker rooms to open before tonight’s game:
Celtics assistant coach Clifford Ray, who works primarily with the big men on the team, sat on the Raptors bench and watched Toronto big men Rasho Nesterovic and Jamario Moon warm up before the game. The Celtics presumably had less scouting on these guys than the usual starters, Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani.
The Celtics are wearing their throwback uniforms again tonight, much to the surprise of the players.
“Is it throwback week?” Kendrick Perkins asked when he got to his locker.
The jerseys are green with ‘Boston’ written on the front. The warm-up jackets for the Celtics have all 16 of the team’s championship banners on the back.
Speaking of getting to their lockers, several Celtics players were late to the arena tonight as snow snarled traffic around the Garden.
“Traffic was terrible,” said Brian Scalabrine, who compared driving notes with Perkins.
Four unlucky Raptors fans have seats next to the Toronto bench tonight: Two are wearing Bosh jerseys, and two are wearing Bargnani jerseys. Their seats probably looked a little better before the season.
