Celtics, 62-40 (half)
The Celtics have opened up a comfortable halftime lead in front of a lackluster crowd at the Garden.
The Raptors clearly miss Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani, who are both injured and did not travel with the team.
[Sidebar: I clearly miss Bargnani on my fantasy team, because my backup center is Brendan Haywood].
The Celtics are shooting 53 percent, while the Raptors are stuck at 39 percent for the game. Toronto hasn’t been able to attack the Celtics from beyond-the-arc, as they’ve taken only seven three-pointers. Doc Rivers said before the game that the Celtics would make it a point to stop Toronto’s outside shooting by limiting dribble penetration. It seems to have worked here in the first half.
Paul Pierce is leading the Celtics with 13 points. Rayn Allen and Kevin Garnett each have 11. Allen has played 20 minutes.
During another timeout, Brian Scalabrine campaigned on the Jumbotron for why he should be included in the All-Star game over Paul Pierce.
“I pass the ball to Paul a lot,” Scalabrine said.
