The other Allen
Before he hurt his knee last January, it was a given that Tony Allen would be at least the sixth man for the Celtics. After months of rehab and with the additions of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, the only given now is that Allen will have to work even harder to prove himself.
“I feel like I am still able to come out and be helpful for my team,” said Allen, lacking his trademark swagger, said before the game.
“My confidence was a little shot” said Allen when asked if he expected to be back in the lineup at this point. “But fortunately I’m here right now and ready to contribute.”
One area Allen may be able to contribute is at the point guard spot. He said he hasn’t been told specifically by Doc Rivers that he will play the point but would be ready to step into that role if needed.
