Completely irrelevant fact of the day: The last No. 5 pick the Celtics made was Togo Palazzi in 1954. The Holy Cross star played two seasons for the Celtics and averaged 5.4 points per game.
Palazzi is listed on the roster of Boston’s first championship team in 1956-1957, but he was sold to Syracuse during the season and did not get to play for the championship. Palazzi was invited back to Boston this season for a ceremony honoring the 50th anniversary of the Celtics’ first championship.
