Gomes’s take
Ryan Gomes had five three-pointers all year. He hit four tonight.
“I’m a little bit more comfortable because I’ve been working on it enough that when it goes I know it has a good chance to go in,” said Gomes. “I need to take it when it’s open, not search for it.”
After working on his long-range game last summer, Gomes was asked why he didn’t take more threes in October and November.
“The confidence was a little down on it,” said Gomes.
Gomes joked he was feeling much more confident about it now.
“Tell [Miami’s Jason Kapono] I’m going to be there,” said Gomes, referring to the three-point contest Kapono won this year. “I don’t know if he’s going to be there. I’m going to be in three-point shootout.”
Besides outside shots, Gomes spread out his offense for 24 points against the Heat.
“It was within the offense, but a lot of the floaters and me getting to the basket came from me hitting one or two three’s,” said Rivers. “A lot of those plays were set up and I was like the third option, and they swing it and swing it and that’s how I got a lot of wide-open shots.”
