Perkins huge
Doc Rivers praised the play of center Kendrick Perkins tonight.
“He’s the star of the game to me, bar none,” said Rivers. “When Perk was off the floor, Dwight Howard was Dwight Howard. When Perk was on the floor, he did a [heck] of a job on him. And he was the only guy we had that could do it.”
“I got on Al really hard going into the last overtime because I thought he had to be aggressive,” said Rivers. “I said, ‘Al, listen, we’ve gone to you twice in overtime and you were looking to get it back to Paul (Pierce}’. And that was that old Celtic team where they throw it back to Paul. And I can understand why: He made every shot. But Al, I told him, ‘You’re our second-best scorer on the team. And gosh darn it we’re going to go to you.’ And that’s why we went to him. I was willing to win the game or lose it, but he was going to show us he could score down there and he did it. So I was really proud of him.”
