Ainge advises Rondo
Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge had some advice for Rajon Rondo in the locker room after tonight’s game.
Ainge was whispering, but it was clear he was talking to Rondo about defending Raptors guard T.J. Ford. Ford scored 19 points in the fourth quarter and almost led the Raptors back from a double-digit deficit.
Ainge got down in a defensive stance and talked to Rondo about knowing the strengths of his man. He told the rookie point guard to play the speedy Ford for the drive first.
Rondo nodded and looked on intently while Ainge was speaking. He seemed to take the criticism in stride.
“You take that shot three times a game, that’s six easy points right there,” said Pagliuca. “Add that to twelve difficult points and you’re averaging 18 points a game.”
