Boston Celtics

Welcome to the Garden

Welcome to the Garden, where the Boston Celtics (20-48) will host the NBA’s best team, the Dallas Mavericks (56-11), at 7:30 p.m.

Celtics fans looking for a reason to watch this game need to look no further than the opponents’ bench. Dallas has been the class of the league this year after a disappointing finish in the 2006 NBA Finals. Friday night crowds are always good for the Celtics, but filling the seats definitely shouldn’t be a problem tonight.

The Celtics were late getting onto the court for pregame warm-ups, but Al Jefferson was the first Celtic out on the court at around 5:47 p.m. The dance team was using more room than usual to practice what looks like a new routine, so the Celtics players had to wait.

Several Dallas players, including speedy point guard Devin Harris, had room to get loose on the other end of the court. The Harris-Rajon Rondo matchup should be a good one tonight.

The Celtics locker room opens in a few minutes. We’ll be back soon with comments from the players.
