Postgame comments from the Celtics locker room:

Doc Rivers: “That was ugly for all of us, tough for me as a coach, tough for the players. We thought that they would play zone. And we thought that if we were impatient and missed shots that we would be in trouble. And that happened.”

The Celtics allowed the Knicks to shoot 50 percent from the field in the game. Boston shot just 38.2 percent. The Celtics attempted 21 three point shots and just 18 free throws.

“When you take more three’s than free throws, that means you were not very aggressive,” said Rivers.

“As bad as our offense was, I thought our defense was worse. They didn’t make one offensive adjustment from the last time we played them. It’s not like they did anything different. We could never get any type of flow because we couldn’t get stops.”

“They got every shot they wanted. They missed a lot of good shots. Their numbers, to me, should have been much better offensively.”

The Celtics were booed heavily in the second half. Rivers heard chants calling for his firing.

“I’m never going to be. I get frustrated in the moment. I get down after games. It’s no fun not winning games. It’s no fun people booing you. We’re all human beings. Nobody likes that. But it’s worth it if we can get it right. I’ve been around long enough to know if you turn things around everybody loves you, and if you don’t everybody hates you. That doesn’t change in any sport or any business. “

Ryan Gomes: “We didn’t get any stops at all. I think it’s part of your will. You have to have the determination to stop someone. I think we do have that determination. On the other end, when you miss like eight straight shots, that takes its toll on you.”

On the boos: “You can’t listen to that. You have to let that go. Of course they pay the money to watch us and they are big supporters of what we do, so of course when we lose games they’re going to be upset. I think they’re letting out their frustration because they know we’re better than that. All five of us out there doing it, and the coaches are right behind us. So it’s not fair to blame anyone. They tell us what they need us to do, so we have to go out there and perform that.”

“When won three in a row, it seemed like we took some steps forward. Just as quick as you can lose one, you can win one.”

Paul Pierce: “We’re only 12 games in. I mean, we have 70 games to go. Usually teams don’t hit their stride until 20-30 games. So we still have a ways to go.”
