Peter Chiarelli has now traded the top two picks from the 2010 NHL draft

Former Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli traded another superstar on Wednesday, nearly three years after making another high profile trade of a top pick from the 2010 draft.

Chiarelli, now president of hockey operations for the Edmonton Oilers, sent Taylor Hall (former first overall pick in the 2010 draft) to New Jersey in exchange for 23-year-old Adam Larsson. The move echoes a trade that Chiarelli made when he was in Boston, sending Tyler Seguin (the second overall pick in the 2010 draft) to Dallas on July 4, 2013.

In both instances, Chiarelli was willing to trade a high-profile player. Seguin has gone on to be a top-10 goalscorer in each season since leaving Boston. In Hall’s case, the move has already made Edmonton’s franchise player, Connor McDavid, upset, according to a report from the Edmonton Journal.

In a coincidental twist, Chiarelli has actually been involved in another trade that contained a top-10 draft pick from 2010. In 2015 (still with Boston), he sent two second round picks to Tampa Bay for Brett Connolly, the sixth overall pick from the 2010 draft.
