One dead in Dorchester apartment fire
Boston officials are investigating a fire in Dorchester that left one woman dead early Saturday morning.
The fire was contained to one apartment on the second floor of the building that formerly housed the Girls Latin Academy, according to the Boston Fire Department.
The department responded to the fire in the three-story building just before 4 a.m. on Saturday morning. The adult woman was found by the first firefighters to get to the apartment. She was transported to Boston Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
It is the second fire fatality in the city this year, according to the fire department. There were no other injuries.

Other residents of the building sheltered in-place during the fire in other sections of the 54-unit building, the fire department said. The fire caused about $250,000 in damage.
The fire is being jointly investigated by Boston police, fire, and Suffolk District Attorney’s office.
