Mortar shell brought into Dennis Police Department for disposal
A man brought a mortar shell into the Dennis Police Department for disposal early Saturday morning, police said in a statement.
Dennis police said they closed-off the front of the station with assistance from Dennis firefighters and requested assistance from the state police Bomb Disposal Unit.
The man told officers he’d had the shell at his home. A state bomb technician determined it was an inert training round and took it away for disposal, according to police.
