Here’s what to know about this month’s Green Line closures

The section of the Green Line between Park Street and Medford/Tufts will be closed for two weeks in December.

After a weeklong Red Line shutdown at the end of November, the MBTA has shifted its attention to the Green Line

There will be no service between Park Street and Union Square or Medford/Tufts from Dec. 6 to 20 due to track work. The suspended service will be replaced with shuttle buses that will begin at North Station and stop at Science Park/West End, Lechmere, East Somerville, Gilman Square, Magoun Square, Ball Square, and Medford/Tufts.

Green Line riders coming toward Park Street who want to continue on past Park Street can walk to Downtown Crossing and switch to the Orange Line to reach North Station where the shuttles buses will pick passengers up.

Red Line riders can also switch to the Orange Line at Downtown Crossing and ride it to North Station, while Blue Line riders can switch to the Orange Line at State and ride it to North Station.

MBTA News:

Since the shuttles go straight from Lechmere to East Somerville, bypassing Union Square, riders headed there will have to instead take a bus. The MBTA recommends the 87 bus for connections to Lechmere, the 91 bus from Sullivan Square to Central Square, and the CT2 from Sullivan Square to Ruggles via Kendall/MIT.

The MBTA also announced that the 109 bus route, which currently runs from Linden Square in Malden to Sullivan Square, will be permanently extended past Sullivan Square to Harvard Square starting Dec. 15. This extension will replacing the existing route 86, which currently connects Sullivan Square and Harvard Square. Riders can use the Orange Line to travel to Sullivan Square, where the 86, 91, 109, and CT2 buses stop.

On the C Branch, eastbound service will be ending at Kenmore. Riders who want to continue toward Cleveland Circle can instead take any westbound B or D Branch trains to Kenmore, and then board a westbound C Branch train to Cleveland Circle.
