Bernie Sanders tears up as his big brother, Larry, a delegate for Democrats Abroad, casts him his vote
Larry Sanders is an actual Bernie Bro.
An unexpectedly emotional moment grasped the Democratic convention hall Tuesday afternoon as delegates cast their votes for the party’s presidential nomination.
With Bernie Sanders in attendance, the Vermont senator’s brother, Larry Sanders, was handed the microphone to cast the final vote for Democrats Abroad, which represents American citizens living outside the United States.
Before casting his delegate vote, Larry, Bernie’s big brother, told the hall that their parents would be proud of their son and his accomplishments.
“They loved the New Deal of Franklin Roosevelt and would be especially proud that Bernard is renewing that mission,” Sanders said, fighting back emotions. “It is with enormous pride that I cast my vote for Bernie Sanders.”
The senator could be seen sitting next to his wife, Jane Sanders, tearing up behind his glasses, as the convention hall applauded his brother’s short speech.

Bernie Sanders and his wife Jane react to his brother Larry making the presidential nomination roll call for Democrats Abroad.
Democrats Abroad cast 10 votes for Sanders and seven for Hillary Clinton, who was officially nominated after the roll call vote Tuesday afternoon as the first female major-party presidential candidate.
As the Associated Press reported in February, Larry Sanders moved to England in 1969 and is now a retired academic and UK Green Party member. During the primaries, the 80-year-old had worked to get American students at the University of Oxford to vote for his brother.
