Ted Cruz’s Deputy Chief Jokingly Blames Ebola Infections on Obamacare

The deputy chief of staff for Senator Ted Cruz thinks he knows how Ebola got into America.

Nick Muzin quickly deleted the tweet after receiving a flood of critical comments:

Muzin did not immediately reply to a tweet asking for clarification, so we may never know why he felt broadening access to health insurance would lead to domestic Ebola infections.

Muzin, 38, was hired in July and is described as a “physician and attorney’’ on Senator Cruz’s website.

“I always had a passion for politics and figured that as a physician, I had a lot to contribute to this discussion,’’ Muzin told a Yeshiva University alumni magazine in 2013.

Cruz, of course, is the current darling of hardcore conservatives in the Republican party. Most observers believe he’s prepping for a presidential run in 2016. Muzin himself is no stranger to presidential candidacies. He served as John McCain’s medical advisor in 2008.

Update: Muzin calls the tweet a “bad joke.’’ Well, sure.
