Mick Jagger is a fan of Boston’s beloved Keytar Bear

Turns out that even music legend Mick Jagger is a fan of Keytar Bear, Boston’s beloved street performer.

Jagger posted a video to Facebook Tuesday of Keytar Bear performing a Rolling Stones song on a New York City sidewalk — “a cuddly cover of Start Me Up,” as Jagger put it.

Keytar Bear may be jamming out in the Big Apple this week, but the fluffy bear can usually be found performing at various T stations around Boston or bowing to fans at the popular Cambridge venue The Middle East, which hosted its Third Annual Keytar Bear Day in May.

But things haven’t always been rosy for the bear.

In 2014, he was attacked while performing. Soon after, more than 250 fans raised more than $5,000 to help Keytar Bear replace his smashed instrument. The host of the fundraiser, Abigail Taylor, wrote at the time: “As Bostonians, we are responsible for putting a smile back on his face.”

Now the recovered bear is putting a smile on Jagger’s face.
