MBTA Commuter Rail, Amtrak, and Logan Airport flight delays arrive amid snowstorm

For some commuters, the trek back into work Monday morning following the holiday weekend was likely a bit longer as trains and flights were delayed amid an overnight mix of snow and rain.
MBTA Commuter Rail passengers were told to expect delays of up to 20 minutes for trains both arriving at and departing from South Station due to track congestion caused by an earlier disabled train, the agency said in a tweet Monday morning.
Those residual delays were still reverberating as of 9:16 a.m.

The disabled train apparently also created brief delays for Amtrak passengers.
“The disabled commuter train has cleared the tracks outside of Boston (BOS),” Amtrak wrote in a tweet at 7:51 a.m. “Trains traveling through BOS are no longer expected to be delayed.”
No delays had been reported on the T as of 9:30 a.m.
At Logan Airport, 81 flights had been delayed and 17 were canceled as of 9:41 a.m. Monday, according to FlightAware.com.

Commuters should also expect a messy commute Tuesday morning, according to meteorologists.
Another storm is expected to bring more snow into the region through Tuesday afternoon.
