Police are investigating a reported kidnapping attempt at a Roxbury school after a man allegedly tried to coax a young student into a van on Thursday, police said.
At around 9:30 a.m. at the Dudley Street Neighborhood School, a young girl on the playground noticed a man standing outside of a minivan wearing a black ski mask, Boston Police Department officers wrote in an incident report.
The playground sits on the corner of Shirley Street and Dudley Street and is surrounded by a five- to six-foot tall metal fence, BPD wrote.
The girl alleges that a “light skinned male with hazel eyes wearing a ski black mask and grey Nike tech sweatshirt” offered her money and asked her to get in the van, police wrote.
The girl screamed, which caught the attention of others, BPD said.
When school staff approached the van, the driver fled toward Nubian Square/Dudley Station, police said.
No arrests have been made, and the incident is still under investigation, the report indicates.
