The Cambridge Police Department are investigating a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in the Harvard Square area Thursday night.
“Preliminary information indicates that the victim was walking in the vicinity of Harvard Square when two unidentified individuals wearing black ski masks and gloves approached and forced the victim into a nearby alley,” police said in a statement.
Police said the victim was later brought to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
The attack reportedly took place in the “late evening hours” on Thursday. The area has been fortified with extra patrols as additional precaution, the department said.
“As always, residents are reminded to call 911 immediately if they ever feel threatened or observe any suspicious activity,” police said.
The investigation is active and ongoing, and any with information related to the incident can call the department’s anonymous Criminal Investigations Unit at 617-349-9151 or visit cambridgepolice.org/TIPS.
