School community members in Georgetown are rallying to support a girl whose mother was killed in a car crash earlier this month.
The 45-year-old Georgetown mother, Nichole K. “Nikki” Rodgers, was ejected from an SUV during the two-vehicle crash at exit 78B near Route 133 on Feb. 10, and later died from her injuries at a hospital, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
Three others were injured in the wreck on the I-95 off-ramp.
The Parent Teacher Association in Georgetown recently launched a fundraiser for Rodgers’ daughter, Ryann Mattie, who is a student in the district.
Shortly after birth, Ryann was reportedly diagnosed with a rare neurodevelopmental disorder known as alternating hemiplegia of childhood, or AHC, which will require lifelong care.
“Since Ryann’s birth, Nikki has dedicated her life to ensuring her daughter’s needs were always met and she loved her daughter more than anything,” the PTA noted in the fundraiser.
“Nikki,” who worked as a hairstylist at a salon in Saugus, “was loved beyond measure by all who had the privilege of knowing her,” her obituary noted. “She will be remembered for her kind heart, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh.”
