One person is dead and three others are severely injured following a serious crash on an Interstate 95 off-ramp in Georgetown, according to a statement from the Georgetown Fire Department.
On Saturday around 11:15 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a call of a crash involving two vehicles on I-95 at Exit 78B near Route 133, according to officials.
Police and fire officials discovered an SUV that had rolled onto its roof and a sedan with its airbags deployed, according to the statement.
At the scene, two off-duty nurses and an off-duty firefighter who had been in the area were already attempting to give medical aid to the crash victims, according to the statement.
Authorities said two of the SUV’s three occupants had been ejected from the vehicle. All were taken to area hospitals, but one occupant died from their injuries, according to officials.
The driver of the sedan, the sole occupant of that vehicle, was also taken to an area hospital, according to the statement.
Officials said the identity of the person who died has not been released, pending the notification of their family.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
