A 25-year-old woman was struck by a Brookline police cruiser and injured in Coolidge Corner on Tuesday evening.

Around 5:30 p.m., the officer driving the cruiser was heading southbound on Harvard Street with his lights on to respond to a medical emergency, according to Paul Campbell, a deputy superintendent and spokesman for Brookline police.

The officer went to take a left turn on Babcock Street when he hit the pedestrian, who was crossing the street at the time, Campbell explained.

The officer called an ambulance, which transported the woman to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, the spokesman said.
