Brookline police officer, other driver taken to the hospital after crash

The officer and the 74-year-old driver of a second vehicle were both injured.

Two people, including a Brookline police officer, were taken to the hospital Monday morning after a crash involving a Brookline police car and another vehicle, officials told The Boston Globe

The crash occurred around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Hammond Street and Woodland Road, according to Globe reporting. An airbag was deployed in the police cruiser.

The officer and the 74-year-old driver of the second vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Globe reported.

The officer was still in the hospital as of Monday night and it was unclear whether he would be kept there or released, Deputy Superintendent Paul Campbell said in an email. There was no immediate update on the other person who was injured.
