Stray bullet goes through woman’s windshield on Route 101

EPPING, N.H. (AP) — Police are trying to determine the origin of a bullet that went through the windshield of a car with a woman and two children traveling on a road in Epping, New Hampshire.

Kristen Burke, of Hampton, tells WMUR-TV she was driving on Route 101 between exits 7 and 8 last week when something struck and shattered her windshield. She thought it was a rock; glass shattered inside the car, and she had to pull over.

Workers replacing her windshield said they found .45-caliber bullet lodged in the dashboard.

No one was hurt, but Burke called the experience “terrifying” and went to police.
