The DA’s office said the shooting happened around 9:12 a.m., when Lynn Police Department officers were serving a search warrant at an apartment building at 300 Lynn Shore Drive in connection with an armed robbery last week. The investigation into the robbery had identified the 57-year-old resident as a suspect, according to the statement. The officers knocked at the door and announced themselves, according to the statement. The officers and a witness inside the apartment later reported that the man told police they weren’t going to take him, the DA’s office said. The witness inside the apartment told investigators the man had a gun pointed at the door. The officers fell back when they saw the suspect’s gun after forcing their way into the apartment, according to the DA’s office.
