Man arrested near Harvard Square after allegedly threatening 2 people with a butter knife, demanding money
A homeless man was arrested Thursday night after police said he brandished a butter knife at two people near Harvard Square and demanded their money. Abdi Yusuf, 55, allegedly placed the knife to the throat of another homeless man, demanding his change cup and then waved the blade at a college student, demanding money and threatening to stab her, according to Cambridge police.Police said Yusuf chased the student when she fled down the street, screaming at her. Officers responded to the scene near 1238 Massachusetts Ave. around 9:21 p.m. after a taxi driver reported the incident and arrested Yusuf. No one was injured in the incident, according to police.Yusuf is facing two counts of armed assault to rob and is expected to be arraigned Friday in Cambridge District Court.
