Toddler struck by a car while walking to bus stop in Norfolk

A 2-year-old boy was struck by a car Wednesday morning in Norfolk and transported by medflight to a Boston hospital, according to police.

Norfolk police said the crash occurred around 8:27 a.m. at the intersection of Grove Street and Strawberry Lane. First responders found the 26-month-old boy conscious and alert, lying on the side of the road, with both his parents at the scene, according to police.

The child was stabilized at the scene and eventually transported by helicopter to Tufts Medical Center. No other information about the boy’s condition was available.

Police said witnesses reported the child was walking to the bus stop with his mother and older brother when he “darted” into the road and was struck.
