The Mount Washington Observatory captured an image of the lights, also known as “aurora borealis,” as clouds cleared through midnight, according to the observatory’s Facebook page.

Ryan Knapp, a weather observer and meteorologist at the observatory, posted his own photos of the lights, taken near Berlin, New Hampshire.
