Danvers toddler pulled from family pool has died

A Danvers toddler pulled from his family’s pool Thursday night has died, according to Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.

Danvers police responded to a reported near-drowning Thursday night. The toddler was at a Danvers home during a small gathering of family and friends, according to the DA’s office. Griffin Lamar, 2, was discovered in the family’s in-ground pool by family members, who immediately began performing CPR on the boy, the DA’s office said.

The boy was taken to Beverly Hospital and then flown by medical helicopter to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The boy’s death is under investigation.
