Senior citizen pens letter of thanks to police officer
A police officer who came to the aid of a senior citizen on the road was sent a letter of thanks by the driver.
The driver’s wife, writing on behalf of her husband, wrote, “You were so kind to me and helpful. Being a senior, I needed help and you were there when I was so upset.”
The letter was addressed to Officer Ryan Romano at the Chicopee Police Department. Romano and his K9 named Kane were on patrol when they spotted the gentleman and his car on July 5. According to the letter, the man had hit an object and suffered a flat tire. To make matters worse, he had left his cellphone at home.
The man was “very upset and nervous,” according to police, but felt better after Romano helped him call a tow truck and waited with him. Romano made sure the tow truck driver took good care of the gentleman, police said. The driver’s name was not released by police.
The gentleman’s wife also expressed her thanks in the note, saying, “The Chicopee Police Dept. has one of the best in Ryan Romano.”
