Boston cop stops to play baseball with little boy

A Boston cop stopped to play ball with a little boy in South Boston. Boston Police Department

When a Boston police officer recently observed a little boy standing all alone with a bat and ball in his hands, the policeman sprang into action.

He offered to pitch to the child.

“The boy’s face lit up,” according to a post on the Boston Police Department’s website.

The two proceeded to spend some time playing ball together at a South Boston housing development.

“This is the kind of hands on community service our officers are doing on a daily basis in neighborhoods throughout Boston,” the BPD post read. “We applaud the officer for taking time out of his tour of duty to make this boy’s day.”
