Woman safe after being taken from Newton nursing home
The woman taken from a Newton nursing home on Tuesday is now safe and the man who allegedly took her has been arrested, reports The Boston Globe.

Beth Birnbaum, 62, who went missing on Tuesday, turned up Thursday night.
David Collignon brought Beth Birnbaum, 62, to Massachusetts General Hospital sometime after 10 p.m. on Thursday. Collignon, from Florida, allegedly took Birnbaum from the CareOne facility in Newton without authorization on Tuesday, police said. Birnbaum was receiving care at the facility after her mental capacity was diminished by a stroke she suffered in January. After she went missing, police said there could be “dire consequences” if she didn’t take her medication.
Court documents say that Collignon and Birnbaum used to date, but hadn’t seen each other in 10 years until he returned from Florida to be with her after her stroke. Workers at the facility worried that his sudden involvement was motivated by a desire to exploit her financially, the documents said.
Collignon’s specific charges were not available, according to the Globe. But Newton police issued a warrant for Collignon’s arrest for assault and battery on a disabled person. He will be arraigned Friday in Newton District Court.
