Alex Cora thanks the city of Boston and Red Sox fans on social media
"Boston, we will miss you."
In the immediate aftermath of being fired by the Red Sox, Alex Cora seemed almost relieved to be no longer managing the team.
Having been dismissed on Saturday, Cora took to social media for a one-word post — “Happy!” — followed by a smiley face emoji.
He struck a bit of a different tone Tuesday morning when he took the opportunity to address the city of Boston and Red Sox fans on the social media platform X.
“Boston, we will miss you,” Cora’s statement began.
“Gracias for making us part of you. #RedSoxNation, you are the [heart] of that team, keep believing, you really care and that’s what pushes everyone in the @RedSox to give it all day in and day out.

Cora and his five assistant coaches who were also dismissed — Peter Fatse, Ramón Vázquez, Kyle Hudson, Dillon Lawson, and Joe Cronin — dined at Arya Trattoria Sunday night.
The restaurant posted a picture of the group posing with owner Massimo Tiberi on Instagram with the caption, “All good over here.”
Cora, 50, was let go in his eighth season after the Sox stumbled to a 10-17 start. He was 620-541 as manager, taking the job before the 2018 season and leading the Sox to the World Series championship that fall. His 620 victories are third in franchise history.
