Hingham police are searching for a suspect in a stabbing
Hingham police are looking for a man they believe stabbed another man in a parking lot in the Hingham Shipyard on Monday night.
Police said in a statement on Wednesday that Ryan Devine, 33, of Weymouth is wanted for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (a knife) and are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the department.
Hingham police responded to South Shore Hospital on Monday night after emergency room staff reported a 37-year-old man had arrived at the hospital seeking treatment for a stab wound, according to police.
Police said the victim told officers he and his friends were walking through a parking lot in the shipyard when he exchanged words with a man he didn’t know. The unknown man swung a knife at the victim, stabbing him once, before running away, according to police. The victim’s injuries aren’t considered to be life-threatening.
Police said they found a large amount of blood on the sidewalk in front of the Supercuts in the Hingham Shipyard and more in the parking lot.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Philip Tracey at 781-749-1212 or leave an anonymous tip through the department’s website.
