State police arrest suspect after armed robbery at Market Basket
Massachusetts State Police arrested a man in Lawrence Tuesday after he allegedly robbed a woman a knife point at a New Hampshire Market Basket.
Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Market Basket on Route 28 in Salem, N.H. at 2 p.m., according to a police statement.
Police say the suspect robbed a woman at knife point and stole her wallet before fleeing in a blue Nissan Altima. Trooper Shawn McIntyre located the suspect driving on Broadway in Lawrence and pulled him over about 25 minutes later.
“Trooper McIntyre stopped the vehicle and, following a subsequent investigation, located items believed to be associated with the incident, including a large hunting-style knife,’’ according to the statement.
The suspect, Devin Mack, 31, of Derry, N.H., was placed under arrest as a fugitive from justice and taken to the Middleton House of Correction.
Mack was arraigned in Lawrence District Court on Wednesday. According to the Essex District Attorney’s office, he did not waive extradition, so he is held without bail. His status date is scheduled for Feb. 24.
