A ‘well-respected’ Conn. state trooper killed by a Maine hunter in Texas
Trooper Stephen Davis, a “well-respected’’ Connecticut state trooper who once saved a life, was killed Saturday by a Maine hunter during a trip to Texas, reports the Hartford Courant.
The hunter said he accidentally shot Davis while aiming for a wild hog, reports the Courant.
Davis was a 27-year veteran of the state police, serving as a trooper, a field training officer for new troopers, and a DARE instructor. He made a big difference in the lives of kids and also earned a medal for saving a life, reports the Courant.
Lt. Scott Smith told the Courant that Davis was “truly passionate about being a trooper and his attention to detail was superb. Stephen was a true professional and a well-respected member of this department.’’
