State employees earning six-figure salaries increased by almost 25 percent in 2015
The number of Massachusetts state employees earning more than $100,000 has increased, according to state payroll figures obtained by The Boston Globe.
In 2015, 13,167 state employees made $100,000 or more, according to the Globe, up from 10,562 in 2014. Workers making that kind of money made up 10 percent of the state’s payroll last year, up from 8 percent in 2014.
Governor Charlie Baker “should demand that his agency heads perform a review of compensation starting from the very highest,’’ Mary Connaughton, director of government transparency at the Pioneer Institute, told the Globe.
