Cape Cod tribe can move forward on casino construction in Taunton

A Cape Cod tribe can now move forward with construction of a $500 million casino in Taunton, reports the Cape Cod Times.

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe tribe bought 115 acres of land from a half-dozen Taunton property owners for $34.5 million, reports the Times. The casino, Project First Light Resort & Casino, will be located off Stevens Street near Route 140. Construction will begin in spring of 2016 and the casino will create at least 2,500 jobs and bring a projected $8 million a year to the city.
