Medford Man Faces Animal Cruelty Charges After Police See Videos
Ryan Baker, 31, was allegedly seen on video dragging the dog by its leash, grabbing its neck and throwing it in the air, as well as punching and kicking the animal.
A Medford man was arraigned on three charges of animal cruelty in Somerville District Court Thursday, after police said a neighbor came forward with videos documenting the man’s abuse of his girlfriend’s one-year-old pit bull.
Ryan Baker, 31, was allegedly seen on video dragging the dog by its leash, grabbing its neck and throwing it in the air, as well as punching and kicking the animal.
Baker’s bail was set at $1,000. He is barred from communicating with the neighbor who alleged the behavior and is to have no contact with animals or pets as the case proceeds. Baker’s girlfriend also agreed to no longer bring the animal around Baker.
The Medford Police Department continues to investigate the charges.
When Boston.com called the house where Baker lives with his parents Thursday afternoon, the person who picked up declined to comment.
