Maine Woman Charged With Stealing Thousands From The One Fund

Amey S. Molloy Cumberland County Jail

A Portland, Maine, woman was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly stealing — and attempting to steal again — thousands of dollars from the One Fund Boston using falsified medical records.

Amey S. Molloy, 49, received over $8,000 for a claim she filed in June 2013. Investigators said they became suspicious of Molloy’s paperwork after she filed a second claim in July 2014 for an additional $12,500.

After looking into the records, investigators said they discovered Molloy’s application included fake medical records indicating she underwent foot and hip surgery due to injuries she sustained during the Boston Marathon bombing.

“Subsequent investigation revealed that portions of the medical records attached to Molloy’s first and second claims were not authentic, and that she was not treated for any bombing-related injuries,’’ the Office of the Attorney General said in a statement.
