Blowtorch-Wielding Thieves Break into Easton Target and Steal Apple Products
This time of year, stories of thievery unfortunately seem to be a dime a dozen. But this one is something new, at least to Easton police.
After the Target on Robert Drive had closed for the night on Friday, two suspects, described only as wearing all black, broke in through a metal garage door in the rear loading zone of the facility, The Enterprise reports.
They didn’t use a key or sheer brute force, however: They used an acetylene blow torch. Easton police Sergeant James McAvoy told The Enterprise that it’s the first time that he’s seen this kind of crime in that area.
The suspects never set off an alarm; a store employee reported the theft around 6 a.m. Saturday. All told, the suspects made off with thousands of dollars in loot in the form of about 80 iPhones and iPads, according to police.
An arrest is yet to be made. Anyone with information can contact Easton detectives at 508-230-3322.
