The 2025 U.S. News college rankings are out. Here’s how Mass. schools fared.

This year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings of the best universities and colleges are here.

And while a Bay State institution didn’t land the top spot on the universities list, a total of 19 Massachusetts schools made that cut.

Following just behind No. 1 Princeton University, MIT and Harvard University ranked second and third, respectively. The top three schools maintained their same rankings from last year.

Stanford and Yale tied for fourth place, with the University of Chicago coming in at No. 6.

Rounding out the top 10, Johns Hopkins, Duke, Northwestern, and the University of Pennsylvania all tied for seventh.

The next Massachusetts schools on the list, following MIT and Harvard, were Boston College and Tufts University, which tied for 36th place.

Boston and Northeastern universities also made the top 50, ranking at 42nd and 46th, respectively.
