Foundation buys Hartford house for UConn president

The University of Connecticut’s fund-raising organization paid $660,000 to buy a house for university president Susan Herbst
to court donors and conduct business, it was announced Tuesday. The UConn Foundation said it raised $750,000 from donors to help buy the house in Hartford. The purchase was endorsed by the university’s board of trustees, which has instructed Herbst to focus a ‘‘substantial amount of her time and energy’’ on increasing private giving to the university, the foundation said.
