Westerly School Committee approves student cellphone use in class
Students in Westerly will be allowed to bring their own cellphones, tablets, and other portable Internet devices into city schools beginning this fall. The town’s School Committee approved the plan Wednesday for all Westerly public schools. Committee member James Murano told the Westerly Sun that the idea is to allow teachers to use new technology in a positive way. The policy will allow individual teachers discretion on when and how the devices are used in their classrooms.
