Two separate incidents left six men shot and one stabbed, with one dead in Boston Wednesday night.
Police responded to a call for several people shot near 5 Ames St. in Dorchester around 11:55 p.m., officials said.
“On arrival, officers located five adult male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds,” Boston police said in a statement. “All of these individuals were transported to local area hospitals where one of the victims, suffering life threatening injuries, was later pronounced deceased.”
The injuries of the other four victims are considered non-life-threatening, according to authorities.
While police were responding the Dorchester shooting, officers also went to a local hospital where two other men brought themselves for treatment, officials said.
“One was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound while the other was suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound,” police said. “This incident is believed to have occurred somewhere in the area of Massachusetts Avenue.”
Boston Police Commissioner William Gross told reporters early Thursday morning that investigators were not yet sure if the two incidents are related to one another, WBZ-TV reports.
“It’s unfortunate that another person’s lost their life at this time, with all the work with our district attorney and our community to stop these acts of senseless violence,” Gross said. “Again, please help us out.”
