Former Somerville police volunteer charged with statutory rape in Weymouth
A former volunteer with the Somerville Auxiliary Police Department, who applied for a position with Hanover police, was indicted this month of five charges of statutory child rape, The Patriot Ledger reported Wednesday.
James J. Killion, a 22-year-old Hingham native, is accused of having an 18-month relationship that started in 2014 with a then-14-year-old boy.
Killion, currently of Hanover, was arrested in June after the boy told his father he had sex with an older man who was threatening to expose him online, according to police report obtained by the Ledger. Killion is reportedly free on $5,000 bail and is required to wear a GPS tracking device, per court orders.
The boy told investigators that he first met Killion on an online forum for gay and bisexual teenagers in the Boston area, according to the Ledger. However, the relationship reportedly turned south when the boy told Killion he no longer wanted to see him.
